Case Studies
Here are some case studies of things we’ve managed to achieve for some of our clients:
Mrs C
In 2007 our client, a retired widow, wanted to mitigate the potential inheritance tax that would be payable on her estate.
We recommended an integrated package of measures, some simple and some more complex, that will lead to overall savings for her beneficiaries in excess of £100,000, without depriving her of control of or access to the assets she needed.
Mr W
Our client, a semi retired City executive, held an existing portfolio of around £700,000 with a major online broker ‘fund supermarket’.
We found that our client could reduce the annual charges he paid by around 0.5%, saving approximately £3,500 each year, with no change whatsoever to the investment holdings.
We subsequently added cash and pension assets to the same platform which resulted in further discounts throughout his whole portfolio.
Mr & Mrs GM
We initially helped these clients work out how much income they needed in order to retire comfortably.
Through a combination of analysis and projections we established that they were taking far more risk than they needed to and that their retirement plan was subject to unnecessary risk.
We restructured their assets so that their retirement plan is now far more secure and introduced far greater protection against inflation, which was the only risk that threatened their plans.
Mr & Mrs RM
These retired clients needed to increase their income on a guaranteed basis, but didn’t like the thought of losing access to their assets.
We sourced a product that offered them a guaranteed income for life, yet retained access to their assets should they require them and all in a highly tax efficient way.
Bringing tired assets back to life
One of our favourite subjects is to look at reviving assets that are languishing in old investment plans or pension schemes, which might have high charges, poor performance, limited fund choice or all three!
You probably don’t use a 10 year old mobile phone; financial products have moved on in a similar way, so we look at your upgrade options and compare them to keeping what you’ve already got.
